Unreasonable

Installation during MAD parcours

November 2025

Unreasonable is a collaborative installation between Hélène and artist Eloïse Bonehill that was shown at kat en Muis shop in Brussels on the occasion of MAD parcours.

Unreasonable questions the very coherence of things. When materials exchange their functions, meaning itself shifts: the solid becomes ephemeral, the ephemeral becomes structure.

From this idea emerged a series of ambiguous objects. Over time, the table transforms: the wax melts, deforms, carves grooves, and gradually disappears. In the end, only the ceramic pieces remain — silent witnesses to what has slowly been consumed.

Unreasonable explores the blurred zones between opposites: good and evil, true and false, real and unreal, appearing and disappearing, building and destroying.

In a society where reference points are reversed, where the false disguises itself as truth, the project questions our ability to discern, to judge, to resist being deceived.

Between fusion and erasure, wax and ceramic respond to one another like two materials in dialogue — one that burns, the other that endures — evoking the fragility of perception, of judgment, and of meaning itself.
